Matrical is a UK-based not-for-profit focused on improving maternity and neonatal care through clear, data-driven insight. By analysing national datasets, it provides transparent comparisons between organisations and highlights variation in outcomes, funding, and care.

First report due in May 2026
This report – the first from Matrical – examines maternity services through both a financial and clinical lens, exploring how care is delivered, where harm occurs, and how resources are allocated. It also considers how patterns of funding and improvement can evolve in response to national attention and inquiry.

What we do
Matrical provides rigorous analysis of maternity and neonatal care, linking datasets to uncover patterns in outcomes, variation, and cost.
Data Analysis & Insight
We bring together national maternity datasets to generate clear, robust insight. Our work focuses on outcomes, safety, equity, and cost – turning complex data into meaningful understanding.
Benchmarking & Comparison
We enable comparison across organisations to highlight variation in performance. By identifying where outcomes differ, we help inform improvement, accountability, and best practice.
Reporting & Transparency
We produce accessible reports and visualisations designed for professionals, policymakers, and the public. Our aim is to improve transparency and support more informed discussion about maternity care.
